Fertilized the pumpkins today!

They are getting very big! I almost got the tractor stuck in the mud!

Spainbrain you are mistaken!

It was not the #@*# peat pots! It was the weather that set us back!

June 30th Evening

I got home from work today and took some current pumpkin pictures.

I hope they don't dishearten Reed to much.

The last day of June

Hey Everyone,
Summer is here and the pumpkin contest is heating up.

There has been a minimal amount of trash talking between Reed and myself, although I have heard a few snarky comments from Gene. I plan on ignoring him, wassa amatta for you!

IMPORTANT: I have taken care of some blog business and made Reed a blog administrator, so he should be able to start posting valuable blog content.

Note to Anne: It was the peat pots!!!!!

Note to Reed: SUN, WATER, DIRT, and massive quantities of FERTILIZER!!!! P.S. for the fertilizer see your Dad... hehehehe

Note to Gene: plghhhhhh!

Friendly Pumpkin Contest

Welcome to the first post of the curcio/spain pumkin blog.
My friend Reed Curcio and I have a friendly contest going on
to see which one of us can bring the largest pumpkin to our fair.
That's the South Eastern Washington Fair & Rodeo held on Labor Day, in Walla Walla Washington.

I do not have a vast amount of experience growing the huge pumpkins.
My personal best of a wimpy 86 lbs. was last year.
My goal this year is to grow one in the 200 lb. category.

My friend Reed on the other hand has tons of experience, really.
He's been a farmer his whole life, and has grown very large pumpkins.
I know I have a tough contest ahead, but I am confident that I can give Reed a run for the title
of the largest pumpkin from Frog Hollow.

I'm attaching the first photos of my best plant so far.
I hope my friend Reed will post his pictures and comments also.

All family members are welcome to post encouragement, especially to me.
I'll need all the help I can get.

also posting a picture of my upside down tomatoes.

Remember Reed NO rabbit's, and good luck.
